Jellyfish Pattern Inspired By ABC Crochet

ABC Crochet by Mitsuki Hoshi

I have Mitsuki Hoshi’s first 2 books Ami Ami Dogs and Ami Ami Dogs 2. I love these books, so I was really exited when I received this book for Christmas a few years ago. Flipping through it, I fell in love with the cute jellyfish and turtle, however all the patterns were not included in the book. Only 10 out of 25 are included in the book. They are: The Bear, Chicken, Duck, Hamster, Koala, Lion, Otter, Panda, Rabbit, and Seal. I have figured out how to make some of the animals whose patterns are not included in the book. Below is the jellyfish amigurumi pattern inspired by the jellyfish in the book.

This would also make a great cat toy if you stuff it with catnip instead of stuffing. Just be sure to sew everything on really tight and omit the safety eyes.

Jellyfish amigurumi:

You will need:

Size D/3.25 crochet hook

White yarn

Tapestry needle

Safety eyes

sc= single crochet       sts= stitches        rnd= round

Note: do not join unless told to do so.

Jellyfish Head:

Rnd 1: magic ring, 6 sc into ring (6 sts)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sts)

Rnd 3:*1 sc, 2 sc in next* repeat from * to * 5 more times (18 sts)

Rnd 4: * 1 sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat from * to * 5 more times (24 sts)

Rnd 5: *1 sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc* repeat from * to * 5 more times (30 sts)

Rnds 6-7: 1 sc in each sc around (30 sts)

At the end of round 7, slip stitch to the first sc and fasten off.

Jellyfish Body:

Magic ring,

Rnd 1: 6 sc into ring.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around.

Rnd 3-5: 1 sc in each sc around.

At the end of rnd 5 join with a slip stitch to first sc, leaving a tail to sew to body.

Tentacles:

These are just single crochet corkscrews.

To make these, chain desired length of tentacles (I did 20 chains) and sc 3 in each of the chains to the end. Fasten off leaving a tail for sewing onto the body.

Repeat to make as many tentacles as you want!

Finishing: sew the tentacles onto the body, stuff the body and sew the head onto the body so that the head covers most of the body. Attach the safety eyes between rnds 5 and 6.
